On September 22, 2025, NASA will announce the next class of Astronaut Candidates, affectionately known as "ASCANs".  Out of >8,000 applications, 120 individuals were invited for the first round of interviews. 40 of those were invited to the final round of interviews, and 10 received the incredible phone call inviting them to join the 2025 ASCAN class at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. 8,000 - Applicants 120 - Round 1 40 - Round 2 10 - ASCANs In early January, I received a call from an unknown Houston, TX number. In these days of constant spam calls, I shrugged it off. Then, my phone made an unfamiliar chirp.  A VOICEMAIL!  "The" voicemail.
